Bedding plants are a wonderful way of adding a splash of colour to your flowerbeds as the seasons change, and are one of the easiest ways to personalise your garden. They are a wonderfully versatile way of gardening, and can be planted in borders, containers and hanging baskets. As bedding plants are temporary, the right mix of bedding plants spread around the garden can mean your garden is constantly evolving. Either grown from seeds or planted directly into the soil, bedding plants can be categorised into different types.
Hardy Annual – Grows from seed, flowers and then dies in one season. Seeds can be grown directly into your beds and borders.
Half Hardy Annual - Grows from seed, flowers and then dies in one season. These must be grown from seed indoors and than planted outside after the last frost.
Hardy Biennial - Grows from seed producing stems and leaves in the first season and flowering the following year. The seeds can be sown in the garden in summer.
