Armitage's can hack it for NSPCC |
|
Armitage’s are once again supporting the NSPCC’s HACK (Hike Against Cruelty to Kids) hiking challenge by entering a team of hikers and donating 5 new gazebos to the event at Buxton County Park in September.
“We have supported the NSPCC for many years with donations from events and activities in store but the HACK is something you can do personally to raise money for this great cause.” Said William Armitage, director at Armitage’s. “Our team of 4 raised over £2200 for the charity in 2010 and we aim to beat that this year with a bigger team and even more fundraising.”
This year, we have also helped by providing new gazebos for the checkpoints. These replace the 5 donated by Armitage’s in 2004. Helen Verity, NSPCC community fundraising manager for West Yorkshire commented: “As a volunteer-led charity we rely on the generosity of the public and we are especially grateful to Armitage’s for their continued support. William has not only completed the HACK with a team from Armitage’s and raised many thousands of pounds over the years, but this fantastic donation of 5 gazebos will help ensure vital funds can go towards supporting vulnerable children and young people in West Yorkshire and around the UK.” The Buxton High Peak HACK is a 24-mile sponsored walk on Saturday 3 September 2011 in the scenic surroundings of Buxton Country Park. Exploring the natural beauty of Buxton, the hike takes in scenic surroundings that are home to a whole host of wildlife.
The route has incredible views, on a clear day as far as Manchester, and walkers will also pass the Cat and Fiddle, one of the highest pubs in England. To register, collect a leaflet from Armitage’s Garden Centres or go online www.nspcc.org.uk/buxtonhack. Registration must be no later than 19 August 2011. |
